Automated Security Compliance
A field report on automating security compliance end to end. Every deploy derives signed, machine-readable compliance documents from one canonical inventory, re-checks them against the live system, and projects a single 800-53 Rev 5 control hub into seven framework views: FedRAMP Rev 5 Moderate, FedRAMP 20x Class C, 800-53 Rev 4, CMMC Level 2, GovRAMP with the CJIS overlay, and both TX-RAMP levels. The paper separates the two things people call reciprocity (the government decision and the architecture decision), walks the system control-family by control-family, and ties it to the business case for continuous, verifiable compliance. Everything is verifiable from /.well-known/ with curl, jq, and cosign, for a few dollars a month.

Being in the Loop: Thresholds, Eigenvalues, and the View From Nowhere
Systems near a tipping point announce themselves before they cross, in signatures you can measure without knowing the equations. This follows that claim from a guitarist sustaining a note, through the mathematics of critical transitions, to a security operations floor at three in the morning, and on to the two ways a system stops being told it is wrong: by accident, as drift, and by design, in rooms arranged so that no correction can reach the person at the centre. The measurement then fails hardest where it is needed most, because a system that senses its own boundary rewrites the rules the estimate was fitted to. Which leaves nowhere outside the loop to stand and watch.
